Berkeley:
Piper is currently a Ph.D. Candidate in Chemistry in the laboratory of Prof. Kenneth N. Raymond. She is working on making magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agents more effective using oxygen donor chelators for lanthanides. Her research collaborators include Prof. Jill Millstone (University of Pittsburgh), Dr. William C. Floyd, III “Tripp” (Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory), Alexandra K. Duncan and Professor Christopher C. Landry (University of Vermont), Brett Helms (Molecular Foundry at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory), Professor Jean M. J. Frechet (University of California, Berkeley), Dr. Michael Winter (University of California, San Francisco), Professor Michael A. Marletta (The Scripps Research Institute).
